Master Schedule 2024

This will be a wonderful learning experience for anyone that is interested in preserving and breeding the Boer, regardless of color.

The Boer Goat Congress is an opportunity to have your stock evaluated and compared without the politics of today’s show arena.  Breeders may enter stock, have them evaluated, and return home to continue your hard work in helping the Boer breed progress.

If a breeders enters the Boer Goat Congress, they can have stock evaluated, nothing is required to sell.

Supreme Champion – Group classes offered are Doe & kid(s) and a group of three yearling does.

All may be evaluated and return home.

  • The judges will sort the stock according to the breed standards and quality.
  • National Champion titles will be awarded.
  • This is an evaluation and assessment of stock while loose in the arena. Grooming is minimal and no enhancement products may be used.

The Boer Goat Congress is all about the productive Boer goat. Bucks, does and kid goats.

Selection will be based upon the South African Boer meat goat. Breed standards should be studied in both the South African and American Boer Goat Associations. Registered and non-registered stock are evaluated together. The judges will not know which stock is registered and which is not. All stock is judged as if it were being entered into a stud book, qualifying the very best, as what is ideal to breed to make more breeding stock and then utilize the culls for the consumer market.
Boer Goat are broken down into color coat categories first. Then stock is divided by sex and evaluated by age. Milk tooth entries will be weighed. A 10 pound group range will determine class breaks for milk tooth entries.

If there is any question, the Goat Expo/Midwest Buck Sale staff and Superintendents of the Boer Goat Congress will determine if the animal is classic or colored.
All colored Boer goats include any goat that is any color other than white bodied with a “red” headed.

Spotted, dappled, paint, splashed, solid white, or grey shades, any other color than white, is going into the colored Boer event.

K Red

We continue to evaluate red Boer goats and add them to the K Red database to track the breed and develop it in the USA.

The K Red is a solid red buck or doe that follows the same physical phenotype guideline as the traditional Boer Goat. There are some variations of the over-all look, but the stock is very similar in type.

As the Meat Goat Society is developing a pedigree data base that will separate the colors of the Boer goat so individuals may easier select the stock that will most benefit them. It is another tool in record keeping and selection in breeding. We encourage everyone to use all tools available to them.
