Learn from a Nationally Respected ADGA Judge — and Make a Global Impact
On Thursday, May 28, Youth Goat Camps and Goat Expo are proud to offer a special educational opportunity led by ADGA Judge Daniel Laney, a nationally recognized and highly respected dairy goat judge and educator.
Daniel Laney has served as an ADGA judge at the national level multiple times and is widely known for his depth of knowledge, fairness, and ability to teach both youth and seasoned breeders. His judging experience, combined with decades of hands-on work with dairy goats, makes him a sought-after instructor across the country.
Class Title:
Selection of Correct Type: Form and Function
This engaging, all-day class will guide participants through:
Understanding correct dairy goat structure
How form supports function, longevity, and productivity
Making confident, informed selection decisions
Applying industry standards in real-world situations
The day will include classroom instruction in the morning and hands-on goat evaluation in the afternoon, allowing participants to connect theory with practice. Breeders are encouraged to bring a goat for evaluation, making this a truly interactive learning experience.
Why This Class Matters
What makes this class especially meaningful is its purpose. All proceeds from this educational session directly support Daniel Laney’s Worldwide Goat Project Nepal, a humanitarian effort that uses goat education, veterinary support, and livestock donations to improve the lives of families in rural Nepal.
Each entry includes all printed material and lunch.
Enter before April 1st and receive a ADGA Guide Book. (If you received a guide book last year, we will not provide another one this year)
Please add a pen if you are bringing up to 2 goats for evaluation.

Camps fill up fast and are limited to 25 per camp. Please enter early.
Includes all activities that are part of the camp, which are the Scavenger Hunt, Costume Contest, Personalized T Shirt, Workbook, and so much more! Sign up and let's have some FUN!
Each child may bring a wether and/or doe. No intact bucks. Scrapie tag for non tattooed animals. Youth may bring one or two goats for the camp. (We suggest two so your goat has a buddy)
Youth may bring all stock needed for additional market, sanctioned breeding, and fun shows. Please include pen fees for those animals, if needed.
All animals brought onto the Missouri State Fairgrounds must have a health certificate, within 30 days of the event date, even if you reside in Missouri.
Lunch is included Wednesday thru Friday.
Market and Dairy shows for the youth are on Friday May 30th after the final showmanship.
Dairy Junior and Senior Does, along with Dairy Wethers. Senior does do not have to be in milk to show in showmanship or the fun show.
Market shows for wethers, breeding does, and "wether dam" does. Fitting is up to the exhibitor, there are no fitting rules.
Fiber shows: to be announced soon
Please be sure to clean your pens upon departure if not entering Saturday shows. Wheel barrow and shovel will be available by the office, please return it after using it. Please do not use the trash cans to throw away shavings.

What a phenomenal opportunity to learn more about Fitting and getting prepared to show your Dairy goats.
Each participant will enjoy a day with Ruthie Green while she teaches the fine elements of grooming and fitting for the show arena.
Ruth Green is experienced and will teach you how to show your stock at its very best along with details about the score card, what to expect at a show, and husbandry tips.
Each entry fee is per person. You may bring up to two goats. If you do not have a goat to bring, that is Okay, come have a fun day and learn more about Dairy Goat Showing! Please bring your goats clean and ready to clip at the event. (do not clip them prior to attending)
One pen for your goat is included. Each additional pen, for supplies will need to be added to your cart. You may pre-order shavings or bring shavings with you. You may attend and work from your trailer also. All pens must be cleaned prior to departure. We will have youth available to clean pens for you for $5. per pen.
Bring all your supplies, stand, equipment that you show with.
Ruthie will have a mock show at the end of the class.

Lunch noon -1pm Pizza will be served to all in attendance. Please bring your drinks.
Day will wrap up about 3-4 pm

Pen
USD $15.00Pen Fee $15 per pen, stock or tack.
When showing Saturday, pens do not have to be cleaned.
Pens must be cleaned if leaving on any other day of the week. If something is in the pen after 3pm on any day, we pay for that pen. Please help us keep costs down by keep isles clean and trash picked up and thrown in the receptacles provided.
Please allow yourself enough space for grooming, milking, etc.
