Midwest Buck Sale 2020-21

Letter from the Midwest Buck Sale President, Melissa Jacobs.

We are excited and honored to announce that we will have John and Jackie Edwards of EGGS Boer Goats here at the Midwest buck Sale, to do the Boer Goat Course.

For those of you who don’t know John and Jackie, they are some of the pioneers or foundation breeders that helped get the Boer goat industry started in the US back in the late nineties. They also became ABGA judges and judged many shows over the years. They are known for having some of the best Boer goats in the industry and know a great deal about the breed standards of the South African Boer Goat.

I believe there are many people out there raising goats that want a hardy, productive animals that can go out forage, raise kids to market or to be sold for hardy productive breeding stock, putting money in the bank.

In order for that to happen, we need to have an event to get ALL goat breeders together in one space at one time so that the new people wanting to raise quality, hardy, productive animals can get together with Breeders, see and hear the pros and cons of the breeds they are interested in, see what the breed looks like and learn how to take care of it.

It is also important to learn breed standards for the breed being raised, while trying to breed true to the standards and constantly improve the stock. The breed Standards are there for a reason, no matter what breed.

Our goal at the Midwest Buck Sale is to educate and help everyone that is interested in raising goats and especially our youth, because they are our future in Agriculture.
